The Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage of Ca’ Foscari University Venice (Italy) is pleased to host the tenth edition of the SSPPP (Summer School of Phenomenology and Phenomenological Philosophy), which will take place on 1-5.7.2024. Language: English Seminars will be led by: Daniele de Santis (Charles University Prague) Nicolas de Warren (Pennsylvania State University) Matteo Giannasi (Ca’ Foscari University Venice) Delia Popa (Villanova University) Ilaria Malaguti (Padua University) Audran Aulanier (Catholic University of Lille) Burt Hopkins (Charles University Prague) Claudio Majolino (University of Lille) Gian Luigi Paltrinieri (Ca’ Foscari University Venice) Emiliano Trizio (Ca’ Foscari University Venice) Description: “The Other” in various forms and guises has become in the past decades a fixture of philosophical inquiry. Who, or what, however, is this Other who seems to be everywhere and nowhere within contemporary thought? Which Others are included or excluded, remembered or forgotten, visible or invisible within contemporary societies? Under the encompassing heading of “Strangers, Foreigners, and Aliens,” the aim of this year's Venice Summer School in Phenomenology is to explore, across a spectrum of phenomenological approaches, the question of the Other in its many senses of being and non-being. Applicants should send a CV and a sample of writing (optional) to [email protected] The number of attendants being limited, a selection will take place. It is a prerequisite to be a Master or a PhD student. There will be no attendance fee. Deadline for submission: May 10, 2024 Notification of acceptance: May 12, 2024 A number of students will present short papers. Each student presentation will last twenty minutes and will be followed by a thirty-minute discussion. Once the selection of this year’s students has taken place, we will circulate a call for abstracts. On Friday morning (5/7/2024), we will organize a visit to the Biennale d’Arte 2024, whose theme will be “Foreigners Everywhere”.
